The Top 10 Things to Do in Las Vegas, NV

Las Vegas Hotel Casino Bellagio LV Nevada NV

#10 - Casinos/Hotels

Having been to Vegas many times, we can tell you that it’s all about the grand hotels with their pools and of course the casinos!  To each their own on how much you’d like to spend at any given one, but you do have a variety of options.  Anything from the penny slots to the high roller poker tournaments.  If you stay at one of the major hotels, it will have a casino.  You can stay put and gamble at your homebase, or walk the strip and pop in and out of casinos as you pass by.  Some big names include MGM, New York-New York, The Venetian, Treasure Island, Aria, Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, The Wynn...we could go on forever.  The hotels also have spas, salons, shopping, entertainment, rides, show venues, restaurants, and bars!  The hotels and casinos are really a destination in themselves!  Whatever your budget, you can find a place to stay and a place to gamble in Vegas.  Most importantly, have fun!  Viva Las Vegas!

Shows Cirque Du Soleil LV Nevada NV Las Vegas Beatles Love

#9 - Shows

Cirque du Soleil, magicians, live music, talent shows, dancers, comedy, broadway shows, and more!   Vegas has a wide variety of entertaining shows just for you!  We enjoyed the Beatles Cirque du Soleil show on a birthday trip and it offered a very fun night of great music and acrobatics!  You may also enjoy the Michael Jackson one at Mandalay Bay or Mystere at the Treasure Island hotel.  If you are up for some “Magic” al moments, head on over to the Rio to catch Penn and Teller’s fantastic show!  There are really so many to choose from and we definitely recommend booking one during your stay.  Great for any size group or any type of visit.  Take the time to do some research on this one, because many websites offer discounted prices, and you will definitely run into people handing out flyers for all events along the Las Vegas Strip.

Concerts

Vegas is all about flashy entertainment and fun times!  Whatever your tastes are, you can find it here.  Pop music artists, Country music stars, Broadway musicals, The Rockettes, solo tunes, …… find it all in one place.  There are in fact so many options, it makes it hard to choose!  Come see the likes of performers such as Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, Jabbawockeez, Bruno Mars, Gwen Stefani, Keith Urban, Tenors of Rock...the list goes on and on.  There are no bounds when it comes to the Entertainment Capital of the World.  Visit one of the many websites and locations in Vegas that sell tickets at discounted prices or splurge on tickets to make your trip to Sin City complete!

Las Vegas Pools Poll Club LV Nevada NV Las Vegas Paris

#7 - Pools

Spend an entire day out by one of the many luxurious Vegas pools and cool off from the intense Vegas heat with a frozen daiquiri in hand.  All of the major hotels will have a pool for your leisure and many offer drinks and food options for your stay.  We have probably enjoyed the MGM Hotel pool with its lazy river and multiple areas for a swim the most.  They have some yummy snacks (nachos yum!) and walk-up waiters to grab that tasty beverage for you while you lay out in the sun.  They even have a club pool or Cabana rentals available for those crazy bachelorette parties and ladies’ weekends.  But all the pools are great!  New York, New York’s pool was refreshing, Flamingo Hilton has water slides, fountains, and even penguins at their pool!  Venetian has a lap pool!  Wherever you stay, make sure to set aside some time between gambling and clubs for a relaxing and fun day at the pool!

#6 - Sports Games

We love sports and Vegas is a great spot to enjoy many at a time!  Choose almost any major hotel to sit at their sport’s book and watch several games and various sports all at once.  We like to make sports bets, but that is up to you!  Grab a drink, enjoy some food, and chill.  Especially if it is football Sunday.  Or, if you have a specific game in mind, watch it at most restaurants and sports bars.  There are plenty to choose from!  We have enjoyed a nice outdoor day at the Beer Park.  You can watch sports, play shuffleboard, enjoy cocktails and apps, and even play large-sized Jenga and Connect Four.  Other sports bars include The Still inside The Mirage or the hot wing experts at The Book inside the Linq.   You can also catch some live Raider football games at the new Allegiant Stadium and the Vegas Golden Knights at the T-Mobile Arena.  Chill, kick back, grab a drink, and enjoy your favorite team.

#5 - The Big Apple Coaster

New York, New York Hotel-Want to take a spin on one of the most unique roller coasters on the planet?  This coaster bobs and weaves thru the “New York” skyline at speeds of 67 MPH.  Reaching heights of over 200 feet, you’ll have a great view of the Las Vegas Strip.  It’s definitely worth doing at least once, and more if you have kiddos!  That’s especially true now, because they’ve recently upgraded the braking system and the trains to make the ride smoother, and they’ve even added a virtual reality option!  The hotel also boasts an arcade area too!

Route 91 Healing Garden LV Nevada NV Las Vegas

#4 - Healing Garden

A truly special and unique place and memorial that honors the victims of the Las Vegas shooting that occured on October 1, 2017.  As survivors of this terrible tragedy, we have a personal connection to the garden, as do many affected by that night.  It offers a tranquil setting to reflect and remember those that lost their lives, those that were injured, those present at the concert, and those that helped so many that night.  Take a walk along the tree path to see the faces of the 58 angels (now 60) and objects left to share their beautiful memories and honor their lives.  Sit down and look up at the Wall of Remembrance to join the Route 91 and Vegas community in healing.  It is an amazing tribute made by an amazing community.  #VegasStrong

#3 - Music/Dancing Venues

Las Vegas is home to a good time!  I couldn’t name all of the clubs, dance venues, dueling piano bars, karaoke bars, pool clubs, etc. if I tried!  It really is what this city is all about.  That being said-where to start?  It depends on your interests and honestly your age.  If you’re part of the younger crowd, look to big clubs like XS at the Wynn and Omnia inside Caesars Palace for a full night of dancing and music that never ends.  Seriously, you may find yourself on the strip as the sunrises.  Call or book online ahead for VIP access.  If you’re looking for more of a chill bar venue, look to The Terrace rooftop bar, near the T-Mobile arena or The Velveteen Rabbit in the Art’s District.  There are so many options in this category, so find what interests you the most.  For fun pool parties try Wet Republic at MGM or Daylight Beach Club at Mandalay Bay.  If you’re getting older, like ourselves, opt for one of the many dueling piano spots, such as The Bar at Times Square inside New-York-New York Hotel and Casino or take in drinks and a show at Le Cabaret inside the Paris Hotel and Casino.  Whatever your pleasures...Vegas has it!

#2 - Restaurants/Bars

Vegas is all about its endless possibilities and this holds true for its many food and drink options.  Anything from street food and dive bars to upscale 5-Star restaurants and luxury bars, Vegas, once again, has it all.  It is famous for its many buffets, including the Bacchanal Buffet (Caesar’s Palace), the Wicked Spoon Buffet (Cosmopolitan), the Bellagio Buffet, and the Paris Le Village Buffet (Paris Las Vegas).  Come hungry and ready for a variety of delicious foods!  Every hotel and casino also boasts many restaurants and bars for any type of outing and dining.  Looking for a more upscale night?  Try out the Top of the World restaurant at the Stratosphere for amazing views and ambience.  Or perhaps Le Cirque for some contemporary french cuisine.  Wanting something more low key and upbeat?  Take a seat at Margaritaville or the Hard Rock Cafe.  Outdoor experience?  Sinatra, El Segundo Sol, and Mizumi are some great options.  The restaurant list goes on forever!  And of course, don’t forget the drinks!  Some unique and fun bars include the Ice Bar in the Linq Promenade, Coyote Ugly in New York-New York, The Chandelier in the Cosmopolitan, and the Skybar at Waldorf Astoria.  Again, the list goes on!  Just think of an entire street full of food, drinks, and then more food and drinks!

#1 - Entertainment

We’ve named the concerts, clubs, pools, casinos, and shows, but the entertainment in Vegas does not stop there!  Other fun things to do while in Vegas include sky jumping off of the Stratosphere, ziplining over Downtown, perusing one of the many museums, or hiking through Red Rock Canyon.  You also might enjoy The Adventuredome Indoor Theme Park, the Shark Reef Aquarium, and the MGM Grand Garden Arena.  Take a spin on the High Roller Observation Ferris Wheel, ride in a helicopter or hot air balloon, and even climb the Eiffel Tower Observation Deck!  Vegas also boasts movie theaters, bowling, arcades, pool halls, and mechanical bull rides.  Get in some golfing on one of the many courses, or swing away at TopGolf, perhaps even take a biking or kayaking tour.  A day trip to Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, or Grand Canyon is also not far away.  And don’t forget, there are plenty of shopping areas, salons, and spas!  There is so much to do here, no wonder it is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World!
